Rules and Regulations of Tang Academy
When entering the Tang Academy, please remember that you are coming into our Martial Arts home. We have rules and regulations which we adhere to and expect members and guests to adhere to them also.
We aim to achieve harmony for all within our environment, and we abide by the tenets of Tae Kwon Do which are:
1. a. COURTESY: Having good manners, behaving in a respectful and polite way towards others
b. INTEGRITY: Adhere to moral principles, morals being the distinction between good and bad, right and wrong,
honesty, wholeness
c. MODESTY: Expressing a humble opinion of oneself or ones accomplishments or abilities
d. PERSEVERANCE: Continued steady beliefs or efforts, withstanding discouragement or difficulty, persistent
e. SELF CONTROL: The ability to exercise restraint or control over ones feelings or emotions
f. INDOMITABLE SPIRIT: Continuing when all looks lost, going the extra mile, overcoming obstacles, mental strength
2. a. The Academy has the right to ask any bad-mannered or disrespectful persons to leave the Academy, temporarily or permanently without any prior notice. There will be no refunds for outstanding memberships or lessons in this instance
3. a. When you take out a membership your signature on the membership form signifies that you agree to abide by our rules and regulations within the academy
b. Memberships are non-refundable and last for one year from the date that you join. Your membership is due for renewal annually
c. Tang Academy have the right to refuse membership (including renewals) to anyone, without any explanations
When entering the Dojang (training hall):
4. a. Always arrive at least fifteen minutes before the start of the class. If late, stand at the front side of the class and wait to be acknowledged
b. Bow when entering or leaving the Dojang
c. No eating or drinking in the Dojang and refrain from idle chit-chat. In matters of importance, speak in a low voice
d. All jewellery to be removed before training. Non-removable items, see the instructor
e. Tae Kwon Do shoes only to be worn whilst training, otherwise bare feet
f. Bow before and after talking to senior belt members and instructors
g. Chief Instructor is to be addressed as Sir or Kwan Jang Nim or Master Eldon. Black Belt instructors / members to be addressed as Sabeom Nim
h. During class instruction ALWAYS ask for permission if you wish to leave the Dojang
5. a. Goods purchased in our shop are of the highest standard, and items cannot be refunded unless they are faulty or damaged
b. Articles of clothing purchased should be tried on at the centre, so that you are completely satisfied before leaving the premises
6. a. Only food, drink and sweets bought from the club shop may be consumed on the premises
b. Do not take food or drink items into the training hall. This includes chewing gum
7. a. Our Dojang is for practicing Tae Kwon Do only. Spectators are not permitted to use the equipment. Children are not to play, run around in the Dojang as students may be training and this could be very dangerous as well as disrespectful
b. Guests may watch the lessons, but must sit quietly in the seated areas. When bringing your friends to the Academy, please make sure they abide by the rules and regulations.
8. Here at Tang Academy we have the utmost respect and courtesy for our Chief Instructor, Master J Eldon. We expect you to abide by his decisions as we do. Remember, all the knowledge you learn and the skills you develop come from your master. |
